PEGIDA Munich Marches towards Non-Citizen’s Protest Camp

After the racist PEGIDA movement started their weekly demonstration last week just across the street from the non-citizen’s protest camp at Sendlinger Tor, this week the group gathered at Stachus. With less than one hundred participants the group seems to keep losing followers. They announced to march towards Sendlinger Tor, hold a rally there and march back to Stachus.

Speaker ‘Tobi’

This week speaker‚Tobi‘, Heinz Meyer and another person held a speech.  So called ‘Tobi’s’ talk was lacking information, but was filled with slogans such as ‚Merkel muss weg‘ and similar theses shouted during the weekly PEGIDA marches. He also declared

‘… Der Islam kommt aus der Wüste und dahin gehört er auch zurück …’

roughly translated:

‘… Islam comes from the desert, that’s where Islam should go back to. …’

Tobi stated also his positive feelings about the Identitarean movement and their actions in and around Munich. Head of the local PEGIDA movement Heinz Meyer and recent participant in a rally against non-citizens of neonazi party ‚Der. III. Weg‘ at Sendlinger Tor, also had a short talk. He stated –as tweeted by 24mmjournalism :

‚… Ich mag einfach keine Muslime …  besonders Afghanen mag ich nicht … ‚

roughly translated: … I simply do not like muslims … I especially dislike Afghanes … ‚

Police violence at half-way rally

Pulled off the site at the throat after peaceful protest –  later gasping for air

As the demonstration marched towards Sendlinger Tor and the refugee protest camp, some people tried to get onto the route. At Sendlinger Tor a cage of fences was set up for the PEGIDA movement to rally – just across the street from the non-citizen’s protest camp. Minutes before the demonstration reached the cage antifascists counter-protestors approached to state their mischief about the rally. Police immediately put on helmets and violently pushed counter-protestors away from the cage. People were neither mummed nor in any kind violent. Then a police officer commanded to push the people further back. Some persons tried to leave the scene due to the high aggression shown by police officers – with helmets and beating sticks pulled out. Two officers grabbed one person. He immediately lifted his hands stating: ‚ I surrender.‘ – probably hoping to be treated normally. Not letting him get up the riot police officers  pulled him away from the group at the head. Then he fell to the ground next to a small shop. The person was coughing and desperately gasping for air. Police officers on-site told 24mmjournalism that the ‚suspect‘ did not wish an ambulance to be called. 24mmjournalism later talked to a surgeon that pointed out that pulling away a person at the throat can lead to throwing up and aspirating if the patient is not treated in the right way. Twenty minutes later an ambulance arrived. The person was then taken into custody according to reports by colleagues.

All of this draws an ugly picture of police force used against peaceful demonstrators – especially as media is focused on Munich due to the annual held Oktoberfest. PEGIDA returned to it’s starting point during that time.

PEGIDA Munich – Tatjana Festerling visits Munich [Picture Gallery]

PEGIDA Munich marches once again on August 1st 2016. Tatjana Festerling that made it to newspapers recently for travelling to European borders and going after refugees visited the Munich branch of the racist movement. Her speech in Munich was deeply filled with hatred e.g. she demanded that “…the autochtonal inhabitants of Germany should weaponize themselves as much as possible…” and also said refugees are conducting a genocide of the german “Volk”. Dan Eising affiliated with “Die Rechte” was in charge as PEGIDA marshall during the march. On Monday night this article was published in local newspaper Münchner Merkur. The Bavarian minister of the interior warns that right wing extremists aew taking the lead at PEGIDA. Festerling speaking and Dan Eising as marshall are just two more examples that neo-nazis, racists and antisemits are warmly welcome at PEGIDA Munich.
During the small march through old-town Munich the route was blocked by more than 50 antifascists near Isartor. After police violence errupting two weeks ago today Munich police departement guided PEGIDA by the roadblock. Some activists tried to set up a second roadblock. Riot police officers violently pushed against the group from all sides shouting and screaming “calm down”. The racists march by then already passed for a while.

PEGIDA Fuerth fails – counter-protest outnumbers demonstration by far

On Thursday July 7th the Nuremberg branch of the racist PEGIDA movement gathered in Fürth. Only a little more then 50 people came to take part in the rally – the counter-demonstration attracted more then 600 people. Neonazi Dan Eising, “Die Rechte” showed up in company of local neonazi comrades with a self-printed “press ID”. Surprisingly police let Dan Eising pass at first without problems, even though the “Press ID” was clearly self-made. After colleagues talked to the press official on site, Dan Eising was first taken into custody and the fake ID was scanned. Then minutes later Eising could continue his “work”. This is especially delicate because Eising has tried to sneak into antifascist structures in Nuremberg before to investigate: https://linksunten.indymedia.org/de/node/137080

PEGIDA Munich April 18th

PEGIDA Munich marched once again on April 18th. As usually 150 participated in the racist march. Antifacist activists blocked the route at Isartor. PEGIDA was redirected by police and passed by the roadblock on the other side.

PEGIDA marched from Odeonsplatz down Ludwigsstraße and returned to it’s starting point. Amongst the mass as usual confessing neo-nazis and antisemits. Approximately 350 people blocked Ludwigsstrasse as PEGIDA started marching back. The demonstration was guided around the road-block.
As the rally returned to its starting point one participant tried to attack colleague Robert Andreasch over a fence and hardly missed him:

“Solidarity without Limits” Demonstration in Dresden

On February 6th PEGIDA announced a Europe-wide action. In Dresden, Prague and some other cities all over Europe racist rallies were held.
According to “Durchgezählt” 6.000 – 8.000 people attended the racist gathering on the riverside of the Elbe – at least 2500 demonstrated against PEGIDA & fortress Europe during the same time. The antifacist demonstration through Dresden stayed quite calm – only as neo-nazis showed up and tried to provoke an escalation, tension rose. After the end of the demonstration left activists tried to reach PEGIDA. Smaller encounter between police and activists seem to have happened.
All in all “Solidarity without Limits” stayed very calm and extraordinary peaceful. Fatale was the decision of the Saxonian police forces, to release PEGIDA participants uncontrolled into the city which led to smaller wranglings between neo-nazis, counter-demonstrators and Police.
